NURSING HOME ABUSE – you or a loved one may be ENTITLED to MONEY DAMAGES!
With Americans living longer, the number of people living in a nursing home grows every year. But, that does not mean that the care that one receives or expects to receive should suffer.
The most common signs of nursing home abuse or neglect are: bruises, open wounds, bedsores, sudden weight loss, fleas, lice, fecal/urine odors and general poor hygiene. Psychological harm and intentional infliction of emotional distress are serious injuries that are very common.
There are safeguards for the elderly. The state of Florida and the Federal government have enacted rigorous laws. Florida has passed the Nursing Home Residents’ Bill of Rights. This bill gives residents, in part, a right to privacy, adequate health care and freedom from abuse. Florida law allows for civil lawsuits against a facility that has been found guilty of abuse of its residents.
