HOW DO I PAY FOR A DIVORCE ATTORNEY?

You NEED a DIVORCE but you do not think you have the MONEY for an ATTORNEY

This is a question we are asked and answer every day.  And…it is not an easy problem to solve.  The most important papers you will EVER sign are your divorce papers.

People who need a divorce frequently do not have the money to fund a fight.  There are usually complicated matters to work out.  Visitation, child support, custody, a house, credit cards, you name it.  A good lawyer can guide you in the proper way to get it all done so it works with no nightmares.  This is not time for a “do-it-yourself” fix!

Most lawyers will meet with you for a free initial consultation.  Take advantage of this.  Most lawyers are very nice and will give you a lot of worthwhile free advice.  Many will try to find a way to help you to hire them and will work out a financial plan that you can afford.  You do not know until you ask.  Most lawyers will take a credit card and some will accept monthly payments.  Many times you will have to ask family and friends for a loan.  It is easier to pay back the loan over time than to forego an attorney.  The attorney is likely to help you get a much better award of money than you can do yourself.  Not having an attorney can be VERY expensive.

If you find yourself in such a position it is best to consult an attorney with substantial experience. There are so many different circumstances that a proper answer to your particular problem can only be obtained by a trained and experienced lawyer.
